Turkish defence exports exceed USD1 billion

Turkey has exceeded its officially stated goal of exporting USD1 billion in defence goods in 2011, it was confirmed to IHS Jane's on 2 May.

A spokesperson for the Turkish Undersecretariat for Defence Industries (SSM) confirmed that exports were worth USD1.1 billion, a figure that is significantly higher, given current market conditions, than the USD853 million in 2010
