The UK must be prepared to deploy offensive cyber weapons to, for example, disable enemy air defences in the event of a military conflict, according to a senior cyber security expert.
Sir David Omand, a former director of the UK's Government Communications Headquarters (GCHQ), told the House of Commons Defence Committee on 18 April that, while a state is unlikely to attack another state using only cyber weapons, they will use their cyber knowledge to improve existing military capabilities
