India is looking for export markets for it's combat vessels and defence undertaking Goa Shipyard is offering it's smaller size naval vessels to countries in Africa and the Middle East.

A Nigerian delegation headed by a senior Navy officer of that country had visited the shipyard last week in Goa to undertake a detour of the facility and the kind of warships India can make.

The visit assumes great significance in view of GSL's ongoing efforts to market it's state-of-the-art Patrol Vessels to coastal African nations and Middle East.

The delegation from Nigeria was headed by Senator Chris N. D. Anyanwu, who is the Chairperson Senate Committee on Nigerian Navy and held detailed discussions with GSL chief Rear Admiral Vineet Bakshi.

The delegation was also informed about the fast pace of modernisation the Indian Navy was witnessing and the progress made in that field.

The Nigerian delegation also expressed great satisfaction on GSL's capability to design and build sophisticated and high value ships of the 21st century. The delegation also lauded GSL's efforts to upgrade and expand it's shipyard to meet future defence requirements.

GSL is one of the main shipyards building vessels for the Indian Navy and the Indian Coast Guard. The yard has also provided high speed patrol boats required for coastal surveillance to the Indian Navy.
